Sigalit Landau
Born in Jerusalem in 1969, Landau is a 1994 graduate of the Fine Arts Department at Bezalel and has returned to teach on many occasions. Landau has received numerous awards and honors, including the Dan Sandel and Sandel Family Foundation for Sculpture award, the Beatrice S. Kolliner award for a Young Israeli Artist, and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Jeannette and George Jaffin scholarship.
Landau often collects materials and creates components for her projects through a lived experience of place. She works with everyday, often taken-for-granted subject matter such as entries, exits, and trash removal systems. Landau has presented numerous solo exhibitions and participated in a variety of group exhibitions in Israel and Europe. Landau lives and works in Tel Aviv.
The Museum of Modern Art was the site of Landau’s provocative exhibition, Projects 87. Friends of Bezalel joined the artist in the gallery for a special pre-opening celebration. After the event, a number of Friends joined Landau for drinks and conversation at Bar Modern. View photos from the event.
